A “Teaching Hospital” for Law Students

In response to a tough job market for new lawyers, one college is opening up a law firm especially for law students who have recently graduated. This non-profit firm, sponsored by Arizona State University, will provide a wide range of services to Phoenix residents at a low cost. Inspired by the concept of running teaching hospitals for medical students, the 30 ASU law school graduates participating in the project will take direction from more experienced lawyers starting this summer.

According to an article on the new firm, published by The New York Times, this plan will solve two issues plaguing the legal industry: “heavily indebted law graduates with no clients and a vast number of Americans unable to afford a lawyer.”

Check out the full article for more information on the program and to learn what other colleges are doing to solve this problem.
